What W e Eat

A few months back I went to the doctors and I was told that I had pre-diabetes and had to start checking my blood sugar and watching what I ate. So I had to changed my whole diet from fast food to real food and it was not easy. Thank god for my wife who really kept me on my toes and I lost 10 pounds in 4 weeks just eating salads and home cooked meals. '

Now that I have it under control I do slack off here and there from time to time but I will nevver forget when I heard the doctor tell me what was wrong. When I found out I went right online and tried to find out as much as I could about Diabetes. I also joined the American Diabetes Association and found all the info i needed and I still get the newsletters and emails. So here are some thing you might like to know.

Healthy Choices
In the Grove this Winter
Cold winter weather got you down? Reach for citrus fruits! Grapefruits, oranges, kumquats, pomelos, lemons and limes - they are all in season now. And not only are they refreshing, but very healthy as well.

Citrus fruits are high in vitamin C and potassium, contain good amounts of vitamin A and fiber, and are also a good source of some important cancer-fighting compounds. Remember, all that vitamin C can help your body ward off illness during the winter cold and flu season. So get in the grove and load up on citrus!.

Meals to Savor
Citrus fruits are not only great to eat out-of-hand. They refresh main courses, salads and desserts as well. Use them now while they are in peak season, and enjoy!

Mandarin Orange Chicken Salad
Avocado, Kumquat and Grapefruit Salad with Bibb Lettuce and Watercress
Pan-Roasted Scallops with Mandarins and Chickpeas
Grilled Pork Chops with Orange-Rosemary Relish
Ginger'd Ambrosia
